A location is needed to place all this wood. I did not mention before, but people need to receive the wood from someplace. If an individual purchases it, people bring the wood to their place or they simply cut it down on their own. The downfall with purchasing is receiving a good deal. There are so many people getting away with not giving customers what they want, it is going out of style. I remember a time when my dad had to purchase some wood in the winter and the wood received was not good. It did not burn right, a big sign of wetness, and smoked alot. One example of why not to take another person’s word that you hardly even know into consideration.
A good idea is to find a location that has much wind and can receive as much sunlight as possible. The process is just for the summer months, because by the time fall comes around, that is when you want to start placing the wood into a shed or cellar underneath a house. Now where a family has there fireplace or woodstove is very important. I know that I would not want to walk a great distance to get the firewood. It is good to have a small collection close by if that shed is a distance away. Just like taking care of a pet though, I remember just about everyday checking and making sure the supply was good.
There are instruments that people can use to determine if the location is right. A wood moisture meter, which you place in the middle of a stacked wood pile and determine the moisture. An ideal moisture is anywhere between fifteen and twenty percent. The Fuel is the Thing is where this information appears. Without the moisture the wood will not dry properly. So without the proper location of going through the process of making firewood that works well for you, it could be a bad winter for the family.

Heath,
Most people in this area probably are only familiar with buying wood in small bundles at the 7-11 or grocery store. What is the volume of wood you're talking about? A cord? How much is that in comparison to a bundle, and what are the costs?
